Podcast #79: Nate Armbruster

This week, Chicago Comedy wunderkind Nate Armbruster makes a triumphant return to his hometown to open up the shows for one of the biggest names in the game, Mark Normand.  Nate started as a teen and has developed into a top level comic.  He also has honed his skills as a sound engineer and is now on the production side of the business as well.  A fascinating discussion with a young comic who has created his own space and success. Podcast #78: Nathan Timmel/Greg Sharp

This week’s headliner, Nathan Timmel is an accomplished comic and published author.  His first work of nonfiction, “We Are 100” was released this past spring to rave reviews.  He joins Tom this week to discuss comedy, literature, giving simple intros, and the unique combination of low self esteem and supreme confidence that so many comics have.  Local comic and show producer Greg Sharp also joins us this week to offer tips and insight into how to build your own successful self-produced comedy show. Tickets for Nathan’s shows can be found at the link below.

Podcast #77: Remembering Ricarlo Flanagan

Actor, Rapper, Comic, and most importantly, bad-ass human being Ricarlo Flanagan went to Olympus last month.  His passing has left a hole in the heart and consciousness of everyone who ever knew him.  A force of nature on stage, on the mic, and on the screen.  How is it possible he’s gone?  Hoping this replay of our interview with him from 2019 does for your day what it did for ours. Dave Attell headlines The Comedy Castle this week. Tom’s interview with Dave from 2019 is archived here. You can get the few remaining tickets for Dave’s shows at the link below.

Podcast #76: John Heffron

This weekend’s headliner, John Heffron, is the ultimate example of local boy done good.  From growing up in South Lyon and crafting his comedy on a PA at the local grocery store to winning the second season of Last Comic Standing, he’s seen it all and done it all.  Based back in Michigan after battling a health scare, it was a pleasure having him on the Comedy Castle Podcast to discuss his up coming shows and what it’s like coming home after climbing the mountain. Tickets are going fast for John’s shows! Get tickets at the link below.

Podcast #75: Rocky LaPorte/Rich Shydner

Rocky LaPorte is one of our favorite regulars at the Comedy Castle. His career has spanned four decades and he has seen and done it all. Tim Allen proclaimed him “the next big thing” after seeing Rocky on his first Tonight Show appearance.   A great comic and a great interview! Ritch Shydner caught the last big wave of the late 70’s early 80’s stand up comedy explosion.  Multiple appearances on the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson shot him into the upper echelon of comedy and show biz circles.  He is taking his incredible “History of Stand Up Comedy” multi-media presentation on the road and we are fortunate that he stopped by the Castle Podcast for one of our favorite interviews! Rocky appears this weekend on November 5th and 6th, with Rich Shydner’s “History of Stand Up Comedy” on Monday, November 8th. Tix can be found at the link below.
